Climate Change, Agriculture, & the Environment

Panel 2: Agriculture, Water and the Environment will start out with an introduction regarding the role of nitrogen in current agricultural practices and the challenges that poses to the environment. Dr. Gurwick will discuss agricultural practices in the United States, the water problems that they create in terms of quality and scarcity, and offer a preliminary comparison between the agricultural practices in the United States and China. Dr. Lamberts will explain in greater depth the water challenges that China faces, both in agriculture and urban environments. He will also discuss existing efforts in China to address these challenges. Finally, both panelists will discuss possible policy options for addressing agriculture and water issues in the United States and China moving into the future.
